Exploring the Joys of Induction Cooking: Anshu and Bijal’s Story
At the 2024 Healthy Homes Fair, a dozen attendees went home with induction stoves, ranges and plug-ins. We checked in with one couple – Anshu & Bijal – winners of a DrinkPod CHEFTop Single Burner Induction Cooktop plug-in. Their story showcases the incredible benefits of induction cooking. Register for the Healthy Homes Fair on May 10th for a chance to win one of these yourself!
A Game-Changer in the Kitchen
Anshu and Bijal, who rent an apartment in Montgomery County, MD, LOVE their stove: "We are extremely happy with this induction stove and highly recommend switching to induction to all our friends. And especially to try out these portable units!” Bijal adds “Even if I planned to keep my old stove, I would buy one of these."
This portable single burner unit became more than just a prize; it transformed their approach to cooking. Their induction stove isn’t sitting on a shelf – it’s an essential tool in their kitchen. Anshu and Bijal shared, "We use the induction stovetop for everything we would normally use the built-in kitchen stove for. We rely on it for all of our regular cooking – breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We actually bought a second single burner induction stove, and between the two have entirely stopped using the built-in stovetop in our apartment." This flexibility and functionality make portable induction stoves a fantastic choice for anyone looking to experiment with induction cooking or replace traditional stovetops entirely.

Pleasant Surprises
Switching to induction cooking brought unexpected benefits. "We were really surprised by how much of a nicer cooking experience it is than either gas or normal electric. It heats up much faster than a normal resistive electric stove and ends up heating up the surrounding kitchen a lot less than gas stoves we’ve used." Anshu and Bijal’s experience also underscores the environmental and health advantages of induction stoves: "For less than $100, these cooktops are also really great for living in apartments, where you never really know what you’re going to get from your landlord and usually have no way to deal with the harmful fumes gas stoves give off."

A Note of Gratitude
Anshu and Bijal’s offered a heartfelt thanks to the Healthy Homes Fair for introducing them to this technology: "We really just want to share our gratitude to Electrify DC for running such a great program. These single burner units are a great entry point for testing out induction, and a lot of people will, like us, discover they work for the long haul." Awww, thank you, Anshu and Bijal! At Electrify DC we are proud to support programs and initiatives that empower our community to embrace cleaner, healthier, and more efficient technologies!
