| The companion event to the Healthy Homes Fair, Power Shift: A DER Showcase, explored how to accelerate the shift towards community power (distributed energy resources/DERs). The forum zoomed into the home to showcase key distributed energy technologies that can meaningfully lower electricity bills, then zoomed back out to tackle the harder questions: utility barriers, grid constraints, and what equitable access looks like for renters.
Participants and panelists alike brought unique perspectives, policy recommendations, and a vision for a resilient and affordable energy future for DC region residents. Presenters included Copper Home, Elastic Energy, Stepwise, and the Vehicle-Grid Integration Council, who then headed upstairs to exhibit and introduce their technology and resources to renters and homeowners.
